PTI leader Barrister Ali Zafar has stated that doubts are arising over cancelling the rally and he would meet with former prime minister Imran Khan to ascertain the truth.
He spoke about the cancellation of the Islamabad rally in an interview with News Insight with Amir Zia aired on Aaj News on Thursday.
Zafar said that questions were being raised about the cancellation of the rally and some people were also “unhappy about it.”
The PTI founder’s directive was not to take the law into their own hands, he said and added that the decision to hold the rally was still made even after the cancellation of the NOC. “If the rally had been cancelled last night, there would have been no resentment.”
When asked about the reasons for the cancellation of the rally and Aleema Khan’s statement about Azam Swati, Zafar said that he did not have a scheduled meeting with the PTI founder this morning, but he would meet with him “tomorrow [Friday] to find out the truth.”
He said that the day before yesterday, the PTI founder had asked to hold the rally and there was no doubt that the cancellation of the rally caused confusion.
“Our requests to hold rallies are often rejected and some people do not want PTI to hold rallies. The incumbent government has usurped our mandate and the government is apprehensive of our rallies,” Zafar said.
