A constable, who was on a motorcycle, was killed after colliding with a footpath at the Race Course in Lahore on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Ibad. He was stationed at the Shadbagh Police Station and was on his way to Services Hospital to pick up medicine for his mother when the accident happened, reports said.
Road fatalities claimed over 400 people last year in Lahore, according to media reports. The majority of the victims were motorcyclists. The top five areas identified as hotspots for traffic accidents are Nishtar Colony, Kahna, Multan Road, Harbanspora, and Township.
The traffic police identified 50 locations in the city as hotspots, pointing to one-way violations and defects in road engineering as the two primary causes of the ongoing increase in accidents.
