The US has denied reports on Wednesday that the US delegation allegedly secretly traveled to Tehran, mediated by Oman.
According to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Jarida, the US had provided Iran with a list of ten Mossad agents believed to be operating within the country and were suspected of involvement in recent assassinations, including that of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr.
The delegation’s visit allegedly aimed to ease tensions following recent assassinations linked to Israel.
The exchange was described as a good-faith gesture by the U.S. following Israel’s strikes that killed Haniyeh in Tehran and Shukr in Beirut.
The report suggested that the U.S. was distancing itself from these strikes, implying they were carried out without Washington’s coordination.
Ismail Haniyeh who was political leader of Hamas, was assassinated on July 31 in Tehran and Fuad Shukr was a senior Hezbollah commander, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut just hours earlier.
