Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem was the guest of honor at a special Independence Day celebration held at the Governor House in Karachi.
Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori welcomed the national hero with a grand reception upon his arrival.
The event, held on Wednesday, saw Nadeem and Governor Tessori enjoying traditional music together on stage. A large crowd of people also attended the ceremony.
Earlier, Nadeem arrived at Karachi’s Faisal Base via a special flight, accompanied by his coach. The Olympian was invited by Governor Tessori to attend the celebration.
The governor also announced an award of Rs2 million for Nadeem.
Nadeem recently made history by winning the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the Paris Olympics, setting a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters. His victory brought Pakistan its first Olympic gold medal in 40 years.
Since his return, Nadeem has been showered with accolades and recognition. On Tuesday, he was invited to the Prime Minister’s House, where he was awarded a cash prize of Rs15 crore and the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s second-highest civilian award.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also announced a reward of Rs1 crorefor Nadeem’s coach.
