U.S. approves $20bn arms sale to Israel amid Gaza conflict

The U.S. has approved the sale of $20 billion in fighter jets and military equipment to Israel. The Pentagon stated that the sale includes F-15 jets, tank cartridges, explosive mortar cartridges, and army vehicles.

The F-15 fighter jets are expected to be delivered starting in 2029, while other equipment will begin delivery in 2026.

The US is committed to assisting Israel in maintaining its military capabilities, as stated by the Pentagon.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant expressed gratitude for the US support, which helps Israel maintain its military edge in the region.

Since the start of the Gaza war in October, the U.S. has provided Israel with thousands of highly destructive bombs and missiles.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has resulted in a heavy civilian death toll and has displaced nearly the entire population of 2.3 million.

The US has faced criticism for its military support for Israel, as it seeks to avert a wider Middle East war through ceasefire efforts.
