Bangladesh cricket team announces pace-heavy squad for Pakistan test series

The Bangladesh cricket team has selected a squad heavy on pace bowlers for their upcoming Test series against Pakistan, scheduled to take place in September 2024.

The 16-member squad, announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), includes five fast bowlers - Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, and Rejaur Rahman Raja.

This emphasis on pace reflects Bangladesh’s strategy to exploit the conditions in Pakistan, which are expected to favor seam bowlers.

Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been named the captain of the team. The squad also includes experienced batters like Tamim Iqbal, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Mominul Haque.

The series against Pakistan will be an important one for Bangladesh, as they look to bounce back from their recent Test series loss against India.
