Suspect arrested on necrophilia charges in Karachi

Police have committed to have arrested a suspect on charges of committing necrophilia in Karachi’s Korangi graveyard.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday after residents of the area caught him committing the crime, according to the first information report which was registered at the Awami Colony Police Station. They subjected the accused, who is said to be over 40 years old, to severe violence.

The complaint invoked sections 297 (trespassing on burial places, etc), 376 (punishment for rape), and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to police, the accused used to keep an eye on the newly buried graves in the graveyard and exhume the bodies of women from the graves and raped them.

They added that the accused had “dug up and desecrated four graves” to sexually abuse the bodies. It was revealed that the suspect was previously caught by the people eight years ago from the Korangi Number 1 Graveyard.
