The Lahore police have claimed to have traced three suspects in the murder of PTI leader Dr Shahid Siddique Khan. It has been revealed that all three accused are “related to each other.”
Dr Siddique, the owner of Iqra Medical Complex in Johar Town, was shot and killed last week as he was leaving a mosque in the city’s Valencia Town area after Friday prayers. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
The absconding accused are a father, son and nephew, sources within the police said. The accused are wanted by the police in multiple theft cases and the accused have already been chargesheeted in several car theft cases in Islamabad and Lahore.
The accused had also carried out the first fatal attack on Dr Siddique, they said and added that the accused are recorded in the criminal cases of theft.
Meanwhile, the police have also included the friend of the deceased’s son, Qayum, in the investigation.
According to police, the deceased’s son, Qayyum, has admitted to hiring hitmen to assassinate his father.
The investigation is under way on the “involvement of a girl, who the deceased’s son wanted to marry, in the murder plot or planning.” The accused, The car used in the incident was allegedly rented from Vehari.
Sources said that the shooter had changed the number plate of the car before killing the PTI leader. After the incident, while fleeing the city, the original number plate of the car was reinstalled. Qayum and Shehryar have been friends for eight years. Shehryar was residing at a friend’s place in Valencia Town.
