Zee’s Zindagi has announced that it would “voluntarily” withdraw its latest series, ‘Barzakh,’ from YouTube Pakistan starting from August 9 amid a wave of public criticism and controversy surrounding the show since its premiere on the platform.
“This decision underscores our dedication to honouring our audiences without causing alienation,” the Indian entertainment channel said in a statement on Tuesday. “We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support. Thank You.”
‘Barzakh,’ has sparked heated debate among viewers for its “provocative” themes. The series’ first episode has already garnered over four million views on YouTube, indicating its widespread popularity.
The show features an ensemble cast, including renowned actors such as Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, M Fawad Khan, Salman Shahid, Khushhal Khan, Sajid Hasan, Uzma Beg, and Nighat Choudhry.
The network expressed its gratitude to those who have appreciated the show, while acknowledging the public discontent surrounding it. The network has decided to take down the series from YouTube Pakistan, despite its initial success.

The final episode of ‘Barzakh’ is scheduled to air Tuesday at 8pm. Fans in Pakistan who wish to catch up on the series would have until August 9 to view it on YouTube before it is removed from the platform.
Director Asim Abbasi, who is known for his previous hits ‘Churails’ and ‘Cake,’ went on to add that the decision was for the best.
“No story of mine is worth more than the safety of all the beautiful, talented artists who came together to craft it.”
He expressed hope that fans would enjoy the finale, but reminded them that “remember - stories never die.”
