Pakistan Railways notified on Thursday to reduce fares for all classes of passenger trains across the country with effect from August 3.
According to the notification, Rs100 to Rs150 has been reduced for AC class tickets while Rs50 was cut for economy class.
“The aim of reducing rail fares is to make train travel more affordable and accessible for the public,” it said.
Last month, the railways announced earning a record revenue of Rs88 billion for the fiscal year 2023-24, ending on June 30, with 40% more income compared to the last fiscal year.
