CCTV footage of the deadly shooting in Karachi’s upscale Defence area last night, leaving five young men dead has emerged.
The incident occurred in Defence Phase 6’s Nishat Commercial area. An argument over an alleged overtaking incident turned violent, leading to a shootout between two groups. Initial reports indicate that both groups belong to the Bugti tribe.
According to sources, the exchange of fire involved Fahad Bugti and Ali Haider Bugti. The deceased include Fahad Bugti, Nasibullah, Mir Mohsin Bugti, Mir Essa Bugti, and Ali. Mir Haider Ali and Qaem Ali were injured and are currently hospitalized.
Additional Inspector General of Karachi, Javed Alam Odho, had expressed concern that there was a pre-existing animosity between the two groups.
New details have emerged from the CCTV footage. The video shows two white vehicles and a black vehicle approaching from a side road. As the vehicles stop, a chaotic scene unfolds.
As individuals disembark from the vehicles, a shootout ensues. People can be seen taking cover.
Eyewitnesses reported that the argument started over a vehicle overtaking incident and escalated into the shooting.
The Sindh Home Minister has requested a report from the Additional Inspector General and has ordered action against those involved.
