BCCI provides 85m Indian rupees for national athletes at Paris Olympics

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that it will provide 85 million Indian rupees in financial assistance to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to support the country’s contingent for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024.

“I am proud to announce that the BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing India at the 2024 Paris Olympics,” he said in a post on X and announced the fund amount. “To our entire contingent, we wish you the very best. Make India proud! Jai Hind!”

The 117-member Indian contingent for the Paris Games will consist of 47 female and 70 male athletes. Track and field will have the largest representation with 29 athletes, followed by 21 shooters.

Weightlifting will be represented by only one athlete, Mirabai Chanu, who won silver at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Equestrian, Judo, and Rowing will also have single-athlete representation.

The Indian contingent will have a nearly 1:1 ratio of athletes to support staff, with 67 coaches and 72 other support personnel accompanying the team to Paris.
