General Janie Carrière, 56, has taken charge as Canada’s first woman Army Chief.
In a formal ceremony, on Thursday, General Janie Carrière assumed the position of Chief of Defense Staff.
Janie Carrière began her military career as an engineer.
Her career spans over three and a half decades. During this time, she has served in Syria, Iraq, Bosnia, and Afghanistan.
General Janie Carrière has replaced General Wayne Eyre. She is the second woman in the world to become an Army Chief.
