A series of incidents involving police encounters, arrests, and citizen action took place across Karachi today.
In a major development, notorious drug dealer Samiullah, also known as “Mulla” was killed in a police encounter in Gulshan-e-Johar on Saturday. The fugitive, who had been operating a drug racket for over 20 years, was shot dead during a raid.
Samiullah was wanted in multiple drug-related cases. Two police officers were also injured in the exchange of fire with the suspects.
Meanwhile, in Ittehad Town, a police team engaged in a shootout with four motorcycle-borne robbers, resulting in the arrest of all four suspects, including one injured. Weapons and two motorcycles were recovered from the arrested individuals, identified as Murad Ali, Aamir, Waqar, and Waqas.
In a separate incident, two robbers were apprehended by citizens in the Orangi Town area after they attempted to commit a robbery. The suspects were handed over to the police after being beaten by the public.
In another incident, a civilian was injured after being shot by unidentified assailants in Orangi Town. In Korangi Sector 5A, police responded to a robbery in progress, arresting one suspect, identified as Asif, who was injured. A weapon was recovered from him, while his accomplices managed to escape.
In a separate incident, a woman was injured after being assaulted by a friend near the Civil Hospital. She was taken to Jinnah Hospital in a semi-conscious state.
