At least one person was killed and another injured in rain-related incidents in Karachi on Tuesday. Different parts of the city received rain, leading to the inundation of low-lying areas.
“The spell of rainfall is expected to continue intermittently until tomorrow [Wednesday] morning,” Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said.
Rain with thunderstorms was reported in Shara-e-Faisal, Stadium Road, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and Malir. Neighbourhoods like Defence, Clifton, Saddar, Nazimabad, Quaidabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Korangi, and Landhi also saw rainfall.
A man died when a wall collapsed near the Surjani Sector, 7A Tanki Stop. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Moreover, a person was injured after a signboard fell due to strong winds in Gulshan-e-Maymar.
The rainfall provided some relief to the city after a prolonged period of intense heat and humidity, bringing a pleasant change in the weather.
Meanwhile, a part of the second floor of an old building on Burns Road collapsed, with the debris falling onto the sidewalk. No casualties were reported. The Sindh Building Control Authority had previously declared the dilapidated building as dangerous.

Karachi’s power supply system was thrown into disarray after the rains. Hundreds of K-Electric feeders tripped, leaving different parts of the city in darkness. Reports suggest that over 370 feeders and dozens of power distribution transformers (PMTs) were down, resulting in prolonged power outages that have caused immense distress among the citizens.
According to Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation was fully prepared to deal with the issues arising from the rains. An emergency has been declared to cope with the rains, and the leave of KMC staff has been cancelled.
He said that dewatering pumps and machinery have been deployed on roads and underpasses. Instructions have also been given to the town chairmen to play their responsible role during the rains.
