About two dozen former international cricketers will hold consultations with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The meeting aims to gather feedback and suggestions from the ex-players regarding improvements to the domestic cricket structure in Pakistan, on Monday.
According to sources, around 30-35 former cricketers will attend the meeting and provide their input to make the domestic cricket system more attractive. The former players will also be briefed on three new tournaments called “Champions” that the PCB plans to introduce.
The meeting comes in the wake of Pakistan’s dismal performance at the recent T20 World Cup 2024, where the national team failed to progress beyond the group stage.
The team’s white-ball coach, Gary Kirsten, has submitted a confidential assessment report to the PCB chairman highlighting issues such as player fitness, discipline, and game awareness that contributed to the early exit.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated that no decision has been made yet regarding Babar Azam’s future as the team’s captain, and that the matter will be discussed with former cricketers and the head coach.

The board has also decided to reintroduce the Yo-Yo fitness test nationwide, and players who fail to meet the required standards will be dropped not only from the national team but also from the regional teams. This move is aimed at improving the overall fitness level of cricketers in Pakistan.
The meeting with the former players is seen as a crucial step in the PCB’s efforts to address the shortcomings in the domestic cricket system and prepare the national team for future challenges.
