The federal government has decided that that the social media applications will not be suspended in Punjab during Muharram.

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Cabinet on Law and Order in Punjab had previously decided to suspend services like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram from Muharram 6 to 11.
The Home Department has now forwarded this request to the Ministry of Interior, seeking immediate action to ensure peace and security.
However, the sources have indicated that the Interior Minister is not in favor of suspending social media platforms.
