PTI leader Shandana Gulzar has rejected reports of divisions within the party after calls for resignation from assemblies by some lawmakers and claims by former leaders.
“This [talks of divisions] is absolutely nonsense they want us to not talk about Imran Khan’s release and Operation Azm-i-Istehkam,” she said while appearing on News Insight with Amir Zia aired on Aaj News on Friday.
She was asked about the apparent divisions within the party. Such rumours started after Sher Afzal Marwat decided to take a break from politics following removal from the party’s core and political committees.
Shandana said that the issue was related to quitting the parliamentary post as party MNA Shehryar Afridi had made such a call over failure to not bring the PTI founder out of jail in his speech on the floor of the house.
When asked, the MNA said that it was difficult to understand why people thought that party leaders had gathered outside Adiala Jail after Khan summoned them.
She claimed that the former prime minister would soon be out of jail. Shandana wondered the timing of counterterrorism operations, saying: “The main issue is that they want to break our government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and make the operation successful. Whenever minerals are discovered in KP, I don’t know from where terrorists come out and they start doing operations. This is old tactics.”
