Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi addressed the Lok Sabha while reciting a prayer (durood) for Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
While invoking blessings on the Prophet, he stated that all great figures have spoken of non-violence, of ending fear, and have said “Do not be afraid.”

Rahul Gandhi’s statement angered the BJP, and Prime Minister Modi demanded that the opposition leader apologize for accusing the entire Hindu community of violence. In response, Rahul Gandhi said that Narendra Modi and the RSS do not represent the whole of Hindu society.
