An anti-terrorism Court in Islamabad has granted bail to a PTI lawyer Fateh Ullah Barki who was arrested in the Khawar Maneka assault case against a surety bond of Rs50,000.
Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the bail plea of the arrested lawyer.
The lawyer representing the petitioner, Ali Azad argued that the allegations of hurling abuse and assault against the client are false.
He stated that the entire case was based on lies, as the private individuals involved were with Khawar Maneka, and the police were not even present at the scene. He requested the court to review the video evidence.
Judge Sipra stated that the court will review the video evidence, but questioned whether such behavior would be allowed for common citizens in the courtroom. The lawyer representing Barki responded that no such permission would be granted.
The judge then commented that lawyers and leaders need to teach their juniors, asking if this is the kind of behavior they should be teaching. The lawyer responded that just as there is no section for abusive language, there is also no section for slapping.
