If you belong to a time when The Musik and MTV were prime sources of music in Pakistan, then you must be aware of one of Pakistan’s famous bands Jal and its song Aadat. But do you know who gave them that ‘ignition’ to make the band and continue singing?
This piece will answer this question, right from the horse’s mouth. It merits here to mention that this piece does not have the version of Atif Aslam, who sang the hit song.
Aslam left the band after a brief stint. Farhan Saeed had replaced him to join Goher Mumtaz and Aamir Sheraz. Saeed also later parted ways with the band to pursue a solo career.
“Ask Goher who came to your school and asked you and Atif should start a band,” actor Faysal Quraishi said at the premiere of Goher’s new movie Abhi.
“Ask Goher who gave him the ignition that you people should sing songs and make a band. Ask Goher,” he added.
When the actor was responding to the questions, the singer-cum-actor joined him and seconded what the Farq actor said.
“I want to add one thing,” the musician said, “Faysal bhai is that person that when we started the band, so he was our first judge and encouraged us to take these things seriously. So I am happy that Faysal bhai is standing with me in my new venture.”
Abhi is the debut film of the Dagh-e-Dil actor alongside Kubra Khan. It is directed by Asad Mumtaz.
When asked about Faysal’s comments, Goher replied in affirmative and said that the Bashar Momin actor was the person who gave the advice.
“We were in the college, actually we were very confused as our performance was going very bad, so Faysal bhai came and we started playing the songs. Faysal bhai praised us so we were a little proud that someone was listening to us. It was a great experience. Thank you,” he said.
