Spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, would visit Karachi, Sindh soon, provincial Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said on Monday.
“The spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohras community, Syedna Dr Mufaddal Saifuddin, will be visiting Sindh at the invitation from President Asif Ali Zardari,” Murad told the Sindh Assembly.
Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin is the 53rd al-Dai al-Mutlaq and head of the Dawoodi Bohra community. His followers are spread across all continents. A large number of his followers are Pakistani citizens.
He told the assembly that he was not fond of publicity. The chief minister went to the Tahiri Masjid, where the community’s leader would be, on Sunday and watched the work for his welcome.
“There has been a detailed meeting with them and they have informed us about the places where congregations will be held and if any patchwork is needed somewhere, we are doing that,” Murad said.
Dr Saifuddin, along with his family members, visited Karachi last year.
Last year, President Arif Alvi conferred Pakistan’s highest civil award – ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan’ – on him.
In his visit, he had inaugurated the new building of School of Law in the University of Karachi which has been named after the spiritual leader of the community.
“The inauguration of the building marks an onerous significant contribution by the Bohra Jamaat to the field of education,” the interim Sindh CM, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar , had said while addressing the ceremony.
