Zubair’s statements on no-trust vote must be investigated: PTI

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has demanded the formation of a commission to investigate the statements made by former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair related to the vote of no-confidence against ex-prime minister Imran Khan.

A commission should be formed to investigate Zubair’s “confessional” statement, Rauf Hasan, the PTI information secretary, said at a press conference.

In a recent interview with ARY News, Zubair claimed that the process of no-confidence against Khan had begun two months earlier, with former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa allegedly having discussions with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

According to Zubair, Bajwa had told Nawaz that he was trying to remove the PTI’s founder a year and a half earlier and that Shehbaz Sharif was the “architect” of Bajwa’s commitment in this matter.

Hasan demanded that the Supreme Court take suo motu notice of Zubair’s interview and form a commission to investigate the allegations.

Hasan was of the view that Zubair had supported the PTI’s narrative and that his “confessions” were a “serious matter” of violation of the Constitution.
