Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar said that the budget presented by Punjab government suffered a deficit of Rs803 billion.
In a debate on budget in Punjab Assembly, Bhachar said on Thursday that the government is claiming the budget to be surplus but the fact is it is a deficient budget.
He stated that the government has silently imposed tax on the people of province.
Bhachar also added that the industry is closed due to expensive electricity and farmers, subsequently had to suffer from a loss of Rs798 billion in wheat production.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) member Ahmed Saeed Qazi expressed his disappointment over the budget proposal, whilst speaking on the floor of the House.
Qazi reflected on the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s era stated that during the tenure Bhutto gave the country an Identity card, passport and hosted the Islamic Summit Conference.

He also said that Bhutto had also laid the foundation of atomic power and the nuclear tests were conducted during the era of Nawaz Sharif’s government.
He also stated that Pakistan People’s Party awarded National Finance Award and had also increased government employee’s salaries by 25%. This had immense effect on the productivity of farmers, according to Business Recorder.
Qazi demanded the government to restore Bahawalpur’s provincial status to end the sense of deprivation.
