The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has recommended three judges for appointment to the Supreme Court, following a meeting chaired by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
The commission considered nine candidates for the three vacant positions on the apex court.
These included six judges from the Lahore High Court, including Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed, and three judges from the Sindh High Court, including Chief Justice Aqil Abbasi.
The JCP ultimately recommended the following three judges for appointment, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Malik Shahzad Ahmed, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Aqil Abbasi and Lahore High Court’s Justice Shahid Bilal.

The commission has forwarded the recommendations to the Parliamentary Committee for final approval.
Currently, 14 out of 17 Supreme Court judges are serving, leaving three vacancies.
