Former PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Thursday that the name of his new political party would be ‘Awam Pakistan’ which is expected to be launched this month.
In an interview with Rubaroo aired on Aaj News, he said that the party would submit an application to the Election Commission of Pakistan under the above-mentioned name.
When asked, Abbasi said that he would not be part of the PML-N as he had supported the narrative of “vote ko izzat do” that was changed after PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif returned to the country.
He was of the view that it would be a “challenge” for Nawaz to revive the party. The former prime minister acknowledged the PML-N supremo’s words for him, saying that he was with Nawaz in his tough times.
As he criticised the National Accountability Bureau’s actions, Abbasi said that accountability has a simple process. “If someone wants to check, they should see the expenses of the person who is needed to be checked,” he said and added that those who are not paying taxes solve the problem.
