Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was left in tears after his team Al-Nassr lost the King’s Cup final to rivals Al-Hilal in a penalty shootout on Friday.
The match ended 1-1 after regulation time, with Aleksander Mitrovic opening the scoring for Al-Hilal in the 7th minute before Ayman Yahya equalized for Al-Nassr in the 88th minute. The game then went to penalties, where Al-Hilal prevailed 5-4.
Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr earlier this year, was inconsolable after the loss, with video footage showing the 38-year-old crying on the pitch and on the bench as he received his runner-up medal.
The match was marked by controversy, with both teams reduced to 10 men after the red cards shown to Al-Nassr goalkeeper David Ospina and Al-Hilal defenders Kalidou Koulibaly and Ali Al-Bulaihi. However, Al-Hilal goalkeeper Yassine Bonou was the hero, making crucial saves during the penalty shootout to deny Ronaldo and his teammates the trophy.
