The wife of Vietnam’s ambassador to Pakistan, Nguyen Tien Phong, was found four hours after going missing in the Pakistani federal capital of Islamabad on Saturday, Islamabad Police said.
“Within four hours, Islamabad police traced the wife of the Vietnamese ambassador,” the federal capital police said in a post on X. “Seven teams were working on it with the help of safe city cameras and cellular technology.”
The woman was sent home along with her husband, they added.
The ambassador’s wife was reported missing to police in a phone call to Helpline 15, sources within the police told Aaj News earlier in the day.
She had reportedly left their home in the morning to go to a beauty parlour, but could not be reached. The police then initiated an investigation under the supervision of the SSP security.
Margala Police Station conducted the search.
The circumstances of her disappearance were not immediately clear. However, Margala Police Station has jurisdiction over the area including the Margala Hills a popular sport for tourists and hikers.
According to SSP Investigation Hassan Jahangir Watto, the Vietnamese ambassador’s wife had gone to the Mega Zone in Sector F-9 Park to swim and bowl, but had become upset with her husband and left the house.
“The ambassador’s wife told the police that she was not feeling at home and had left the house. She did not realise what she was doing,” Watto told the Independent Urdu.
