A petition in the Supreme Court accusing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insad’s Secretary of Information, Raoof Hassan, and spokesperson Shoaib Shaheen of contempt of court by scandalising judges.
The petition has been filed by Mian Dawood and includes transcripts of their contemptuous interviews.
According to Advocate Mian Dawood, the Tehreek-e-Insaf is systematically scandalizing the judiciary, while Raoof Hasan and Shoaib Shaheen are involved in a criminal conspiracy to scandalize the judges. Both individuals have used inappropriate language against Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Aamer Farooq, Dawood has maintained.
The petitioner claims that Raoof Hassan’s statement to call the judiciary “tout” (corrupt) is an attempt to scandalize the judiciary. Rauf Hassan had also scandalized Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Faez Isa, by leveling baseless allegations against him, the petition adds.
Advocate Mian Dawood, in the petition, has taken the stance that the statements of both Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders are a violation of Article 204 of the Constitution. Tehreek-e-Insaf is undermining public trust in the judiciary through their criminal conspiracy.
The Supreme Court has not taken further action on the accepted contempt of court against Imran Khan, showing leniency. Imran Khan and PTI leaders are encouraged by this, as they have not faced consequences for their contemptuous remarks against the court.
The petitioner requests that, in light of previous rulings by the Supreme Court, Raoof Hassan and Shoaib Shaheen should be held accountable for contempt of court. The court should take appropriate action against them for scandalizing the judiciary.
