At least 14 people, including five women, were killed and 12 others were injured in a truck accident in Punjab’s Khushab district on Saturday.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the accident occurred when a Mazda truck travelling from Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Naushera, Punjab fell into a ditch on Panj Pir Manawan Road.
The accident was caused by a brake failure on the vehicle, District Rescue Officer Hafiz Abdul Rasheed stated.
Fourteen people were pronounced dead at the site of the crash, while 12 others sustained injuries. Rescue personnel provided first aid to four people with minor injuries while the remaining eight were rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Naushera with more serious conditions.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed grief over the tragic incident and extended his condolences to the families of the deceased. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
At least two women were killed and seven others injured when a tourist jeep fell into a ditch on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kaghan Highway in Mansehra.
The casualties belonged to the Post-Graduate College, Haripur, according to Kaghan Development Authority officials. The deceased were identified as Halima and Zarmina.
