Saeed Anwar blames working women for increased divorce cases

Former Pakistani cricketer Saeed Anwar has claimed that the reason for increased divorce cases in Pakistan were the working women.  

He was seen and heard saying in a video clip, which went viral on social media platforms. Anwar alleged that the working women in Pakistan do not want to live with their husbands. 

In the one-minute clip, the former cricketer is seen preaching people. While sharing his experience, he stated that he had traveled the whole world and “youngsters were suffering” due to their families’ dynamics as women in the family have also started earning.

He elaborated on his interactions with different players, stating his take on cultural disruption as women have started working. 

“In Pakistan, divorce rates have increased by around 30% in three years due to women’s earnings,” he stated. “To hell with you, I can earn and I can look after my household,” he interpreted the woman’s mindset regarding marriage. 

He referred to this as a “game plan”, saying that individuals needed “hidayat [guidance]” to prevent this.
