The Karachi’s judicial magistrate east ordered TV host Yasir Shami on Thursday to record his statement before the Federal Investigation Agency in a case related to leaking indecent videos online of late politician and anchorperson Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
He surrendered himself to court after the he was declared a suspect in the case.
The objectionable video featured the late politician in a state of complete undress in his home, allegedly after the consumption of an illegal substance. The video was leaked a couple of days after news broke of the dissolution of his third marriage.
Liaquat, a former MNA, passed away in Karachi on June 9, 2022 under mysterious circumstances. He was laid to rest on Friday in the compound of Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine.
Last year, a judicial magistrate indicted Dania Shah, the widow of a late politician, in the case. Later, she got bail in the case.
On Thursday, the court conducted the hearing of the case. Liaquat’s widow, Dania, also appeared in the court.

Shami surrendered himself to the court and sought bail in the case. The request was approved and the suspect was ordered to pay Rs500,000 of surety bonds to the court.
Earlier, the court had issued a warrant for the TV host as he failed to appear in court.
The case was registered against them in the FIA Cybercrime Cell.
