As the price of wheat decreased in the Punjab province due to the government dragging its feet on the purchase of the commodity from farmers, a significant reduction in the prices of flour was registered.
In Lahore, the price of a 20kg bag of flour has fallen by Rs 800 in a few days, from Rs 2800 to Rs2000.

The Chairman of the Flour Mills Association, Asim Raza, confirmed the price reduction and stated that the new price of a 20kg bag of flour is Rs2000.

He added that the decrease in wheat prices is due to the efforts of farmers and the government’s decision to lift inter-provincial restrictions on wheat movement.
The government is also urging other provinces to purchase wheat from Punjab to help stabilize prices and support farmers.
The Punjab government has set the official support price for wheat at Rs3900 per 40kg but in the absence of buyers, farmers have been forced to sell wheat at as low as Rs2600.
Many of the farmers are protesting against the government policies.
