A woman was robbed immediately after landing in Karachi by the notorious ‘white Corolla gang’. The police has added another twist to the issue by filing a complaint for theft instead of dacoity.
The woman had landed in Karachi from the United States late on Thursday night to meet her daughter.
The members of the gang, allegedly followed her to Hyderi in Karachi’s central district in a white Corolla and another vehicle and stopped her on the pretext of checking her vehicle.
The suspects were wearing police uniforms and identified them with an intelligence agency as they held the woman on gunpoint.
They then used the pretext of searching her vehicle to make off with $4,000, a smartphone, gold jewellery and documents.

The woman’s husband later filed a complaint with the police. However, the police filed the complaint under clauses related to theft instead of dacoity.
Police has acquired CCTV footage showing the crime taking place and investigations are underway.
The ‘white Corolla gang’ has been reported for many instances of dacoity in the past. Police had even claimed that the gang had been wiped out.
