Canadian Police have added Dharam Singh Dhaliwal, an individual of Indian origin, to their list of the 25 most-wanted fugitives. Dhaliwal is wanted in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Pawanpreet Kaur.
A reward of up to 50,000 Canadian dollars is being offered for any information leading to his arrest. Dhaliwal, who is considered to be armed and dangerous, was last known to be residing in Mississauga, Ontario.
According to the Canadian Police, Dhaliwal has connections in various locations, including the Greater Toronto Area, Winnipeg, Vancouver / Lower Mainland, and India. The Peel Regional Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest on charges of first-degree murder.
Dhaliwal is currently being sought through the BOLO (Be On the Look Out) program, which utilizes social media and technology to engage the public in the search for Canada’s most wanted suspects.
The tragic incident occurred in December 2022, when Pawanpreet Kaur was fatally shot multiple times at the Petro-Canada gas station where she worked in Brampton, Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Prior to the murder, Dhaliwal had faced charges related to domestic issues involving Kaur. In an attempt to evade the police, he even staged his own suicide before Kaur’s murder.
The Peel Regional Police’s Homicide Bureau issued an arrest warrant for Dhaliwal in April of the following year, charging him with first-degree murder.
Nishan Duraiappah, the chief of Peel Regional Police (PRP), emphasized the significance of public cooperation in capturing Dhaliwal, stating that the murder had a lasting impact on Kaur’s family and the community.
Dhaliwal is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 75 kg, with a tattoo on his left hand.
On April 18, 2023, two of Dhaliwal’s family members, Pritpal Dhaliwal and Amarjit Dhaliwal, were arrested in Moncton, New Brunswick, and charged with being accessories to murder after the fact. The police warned that anyone assisting Dhaliwal in evading arrest would face the same charges.
