KP death toll from rain related incidents rises to 36

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s death toll from rain related incidents has risen to 36, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority said, with the Met Office forecasting more rains in the province.

The deceased included 20 children, eight men, and eight women. More than 50, including women and children, have been wounded and 2,400 houses damaged in rain since the downpour spell that began last week.

Contin­uous heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms have lashed several parts of the country. Heavy rainfall, floods and landslides continued to wreak havoc in KP since last week.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rain across the country, extending till April 22.

Meanwhile, rain related incidents and lightning killed 17 people in Balochistan and wounded 24 since heavy rain last week.

Dera Bugti, Loralai, Sorab, Kech, Gwadar, Chagai, Pishin, and Chaman were the affected areas. A flood-like situation persisted in Sibi, Sanjawi, Kalat, and the port city.
