The DNA report in the Maria murder case has shown that the victim was not sexually assaulted by her brothers and father, who are the prime suspects in the case.
“According to the DNA report, no semen was detected there and we did not receive any evidence of assault that someone committed rape or anything like that,” District Police Officer Ibadat Nisar told reporters on Friday.
Maria was smothered to death with a pillow in Punjab’s Toba Tek Singh district. Police arrested her brothers and father as main suspects in the case, following the harrowing video of the murder.
The killing — which according to the police occurred on the night between March 17 and March 18 – was recorded on a mobile phone camera and the video went viral on social media.
Moreover, police have received the reports on digital analysis of the video and audio. “Suspects seen in the video and the sounds heard in the video are genuine,” DPO Nisar said and clarified that the video was not manipulated or changed.
Nisar added that they have finalised their videos and the suspects have been jailed.
Prime suspects were sent to jail on judicial remand on April 6, sources said. Maria was subjected to incest by both the suspects, her brother Faisal and father Abdul Sattar, according to Shehbaz.
“The reason for the murder so far has been found that the killers used to question the character of the victim. They committed such a horrific crime as they had doubts on her,” he said.

When asked, he said that they had different versions during the investigation. But the test reports did not give any such evidence related to sexual assault.
Police would submit the challan in the court and begin a trial in the case. Nisar was hopeful that all the evidence was collected scientifically and methodically.
“There is not any lacunae in this case, so with the help of the prosecution we will make a good case to have strong punishment for the suspects.
