A mother drowned while trying to save her four children in Sindh’s Thatta on Monday, locals and rescue workers said. The incident occurred in the district’s Amin Jatt village.
She was identified as Hajra. The body was handed over to the heirs of the family after legal procedures.
The four children were taking a bath in the river when they realised they were at risk of drowning.
The death reminds the locals of a similar incident in Nawabshah where a woman died after jumping into the Mithrao Canal near Tando Adam in February. Her husband drowned while trying to save her.
