At least nine people were killed in rain-related incidents in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday as most parts of Pakistan received rain.
Six people died in Balochistan in different incidents, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority said.
The authority added that heavy rain damaged houses, crops, solar panels, roads, and bridges in the province.
Due to floodwater, Shahrah-e-Zardalo which connects Quetta and Harnai has been closed while solar panels, standing crops, crude houses, roads and bridges have been damaged in the provincial capital’s Hana Warak area, Mastung district, Kech, Pishin and Panjgur areas.
The PDMA urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel. More rains have been predicted in different areas of Balochistan, according to the Met Office.
At least three people were killed in KP, including a woman in Lower Dir and two in Swat. The PDMA showed that they died after the house collapsed. Moreover, two in Lower Chitral and one in Upper Dir were injured. Such incidents have occurred in the past as well in mud houses.
On Saturday, lightning strikes killed 24 people in Punjab and Balochistan.
