On Thursday, the police reported that a man brutally killed his wife and seven young children using a hammer in Alipur.
The children’s ages ranged from six months to eight years old.
Police officials attributed the murders to financial problems, confirming that the accused suffered from a leg disability and worked as a tailor.
The familicide occurred in Mudwala town, Alipur tehsil.
Familicide refers to the killing of family members or even oneself. While it is not widespread in Pakistan, several incidents have been reported in recent months.
In January this year, a man killed his wife and three young children and later committed suicide in Karachi.
In October 2023, a father threw his four children into a canal and later filed an FIR, falsely claiming that the children had been kidnapped.
