Pakistan Cricket Board has replaced Alia Rasheed as its media director and reappointed Sami ul Haq Burney in her place.
Rasheed, a senior sports journalist, resigned from her post on Friday. Burney’s appointment was made official soon after.
Her resignation is said to be on the basis of personal reasons, but sources claim that interference in her department could also be the reason.
One of the matters of conflict was the appointment of former Punjab Minister Amir Mir as the Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s media consultant.
Rasheed had been appointed to the board in October last year. She was the first woman to hold the post of media director in the board.
Burney, who replaced her, has previously worked as the PCB’s media director from 2019 to 2023. He has also headed the media department at the International Cricket Council and has worked as a journalist.
