Army chief’s iftar to cut cricket training camp short

Pakistan cricket team’s training camp in Kakul is set to end a day early after an invitation by Army Chief General Asim Munir.

The camp wwas originally slated to end on April 8 but will now end on April 7.

However, the cricketers have now been invited to to an iftar in the the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on April 7, after which the camp will formally end.

The team will then report back in Rawalpindi after Eid ul Fitr to prepare for a series against New Zealand beginning on April 18.

The training camp was organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board soon after Mohsin Naqvi took over as chairman.

Naqvi had stressed that training under the army will help improve fitness standards, despite cramming the team’s schedule.
