New investigations in the Toba Tek Singh murder case have revealed signs of violence on the victim’s body in a medico-legal examination. The police complaint has also revealed that the main suspect escaped in front of the police.
A young woman Maria was killed by her brother as her father and other family members looked on. A video showing Maria being smothered by her brother was recorded and uploaded to social media. Police registered a case after the video went viral and obtained an exhumation order from a local court.
An initial medical examination of the body found that the bones in the victim’s throat were broken. A detailed autopsy report is still pending.
The medical report revealed that her hyoid bone was fractured and two tracheal rings were also broken. These signs seemingly point towards intense force being applied as she was strangulated by her brother.
However, the report said that her orifices were intact. Her brother had told the police that she was sexually assaulted before she was killed.
The report also revealed that the extent of her injuries was so severe that it seemed that she had immediately died after the violence.
Filed on March 26, the report revealed that the death had occurred nine days before.
The FIR of the incident has also revealed that the police received a tip-off from an informant regarding the crime.
The police rushed to Maria’s house where they found the main accused, Muhammad Faisal sitting on the roof.
However, Fisal managed to flee before the police could arrest him. He was arrested later.
The FIR has also revealed that multiple people in the Oudh community in the area, to which Maria’s family belong, are aware of the incident but are silent because of family ties.
