The US Congress has earmarked $50 million for the US State Department to decrease the visitor visa interview times, Visa Guide reported.
US Travel Association Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Policy Tori Emerson Barnes said in a statement on Wednesday.
Barnes appreciated Congress for allocating funds to reduce long wait times for visitor visa interviews, which average 400 days in key source markets.

Moreover, the US travel pushed the august House to consider the Visa Processing Act to upgrade the whole visa process.
It had urged authorities to work on reducing visa wait time as the country is set to host the FIFA World Cup in 2026 and T20 World Cup this year.
According to travel industry experts, the decision was related to millions of football fans planning to attend the FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada.
