The General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia has announced that the registration for itikaf at the Grand Mosque in Makkah will open next week, Gulf News reported.
Starting from the seventh Ramazan falling on Sunday, March 17, the Saudi authorities will start receiving registration for itikaf and will continue until the places designated for Itikaf are filled at the Grand Mosque.
Muslims can register for itikaf via the website of the state agency, however, they must meet certain requirements.
The applicants will have to abide by the pledges and regulations at the Grand Mosque, start Itikaf at the stipulated time on 20th Ramazan and be at least 18 years old.
In Islam, itikaf or seclusion is performed in the final 10 days of Ramazan, which began in Pakistan this year on March 12.
The Umrah season usually peaks in Ramazan as thousands of Muslims arrive in Makkah from Saudi Arabia and across the world which houses the Holy Kaaba.
