The supply of natural gas in Karachi would be low for the next 24 hours, the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited spokesperson said on Sunday because of the shortage of 50 mmcfd gas from the upstream Naimat- Bassal Gas Field.
“As a result of this curtailment, residents of Karachi will be faced with short supply/low pressure issues for the next 24 hours,” the spokesperson said in a statement, causing problems for gas consumers amid the ongoing winter season where the use of natural gas spikes.
Last month, the government approved a 67 per cent increase in the gas tariff to meet another condition of the International Monetary Fund to unlock another tranche of loan.
Although the inflation rate was the slowest since June 2022, gas prices have gone through the roof.
