A female student died after suffering a head injury during a judo competition held at the Sports Complex of Mardan Education Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, rescue officials said.

The female’s condition deteriorated soon after she was hit on the head during the competition.

The victim was identified as Fiza who hailed from Peshawar.

Rescue workers arrived at the scene and performed CPR to stabilise her condition before moving to the hospital.

However, the medical staff at the hospital in Mardan confirmed her death on arrival at the hospital.
