Multan Sultans dominated Lahore Qalandars to win by 60 runs at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Tuesday. Qalandars have now lost six straight games to begin the tournament.
Sultans won the toss and opted to bat first in the 14th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, posting 214 runs for the loss of five wickets.
Usman Khan played a fiery innings, making 96 runs off 55 balls with 11 fours and two sixes.
He was supported by Reeza Hendricks who made 40 off 27 balls. Iftikhar Ahmed also provided a late boost to the innings with 40 runs of 18 balls, including 17 off a single over.
Shaheen Shah Afridi took 2 wickets for 39 runs for the Qalandars.
In response, Qalandars managed a mere 154 runs in 17 overs before being bowled out.
Rassie van der Dussen made 30 runs and Sahibzada Farhan made 31 runs as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. All this happened despite a brisk 54 run stand for the first wicket.
Usama Mir starred with the ball for Multan Sultans, grabbing 6 wickets for 40 runs in his 4 overs.
Sultans, the runner-up of the last PSL edition, sit at the top of the table with eight points, while the defending champions are yet to win a match in the ongoing edition.
The Shaheen Shah-led Qalandars have lost all of their last five games and sit at the bottom of the points table.
