The cabin crew onboard an Emirates flight from Dubai to Islamabad tackled and restrained a passenger for unruly behavior, Khaleej Times reported on Monday.
The airline confirmed the incident on the Pakistan-bound flight.
Video footage, shared by journalist Amir Mateen on his X account, showed the passenger — who was reportedly intoxicated created a disturbance on the EK614 flight that took off from Dubai on February 24.
Quoting an unnamed passenger who was on the flight, Mateen said that the Pakistani authorities let the unruly passenger go as he was well-connected.
“Emirates can confirm that there was an unruly passenger on flight EK614 travelling from Dubai to Islamabad. The passenger was restrained by cabin crew and upon arrival, was handed over to the authorities,” an Emirates spokesperson said.
“The safety of our passengers and crew is of critical importance and Emirates strives to ensure this is never compromised. Emirates is cooperating with the authorities at this time and cannot comment further.”
The video posted on social media showed the drunk passenger head-butting a male crew member, after which the crew tackled him to the ground.
Later, another cabin crew member provided hand ties to restrain the intoxicated passenger.
Another video showed the passenger being carried in a wheelchair.
