The services of X, formerly known as Twitter, remained restricted for the seventh day across Pakistan.
Netblocks, an independent observer, confirmed that the accessibility to the social media platform remained fully or intermittently restricted for most users on Saturday.
“Live metrics show that X/Twitter has now been restricted in #Pakistan for over one week, with service remaining fully or intermittently restricted for most users; the incident comes amidst a surge in internet censorship during elections marred by irregularities,” the observer noted in a post on X.
The current outage began on Saturday, February 17 as users complained of slow or non-existent accessibility to the platform.
Meanwhile, reports said that the demand and usage of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) in Pakistan surged significantly following the continuous disruption of social media platforms in recent months.
Quoting an official of VPN provider Proton VPN, TechRadar reported a steady increase in VPN users in the country in recent months.
